Is My Water Bottle Safe?

There has been a huge trend towards using stainless steel water bottles like the very popular Stanley water bottles. And as much as I appreciate that we are making it trendy to drink more water, and I love that we are staying clear of plastics (because of BPA’s and harmful plasticizers) I have one concern - traces of lead have been found in Stanley products (1).

Lead exposure is linked to miscarriages, still births, permanent developmental problems in children, damage to the nervous system, reduced sperm count, and mood disorders (2)(3).

I have been asked my many concerned moms and friends, which stainless steel water bottles I would recommend that are lead-free. So I thought I would make a permanent page here with the ones I know have been tested lead-free and that we use. (Another great resource is “Lead Free Mama”, she tests products and advocates for lead-free items especially for children. You can check out her website here: https://tamararubin.com/ )
