Frequently asked questions.

  • An Holistic Nutritionist is someone who approaches the body in the understanding that everything is interconnected and therefore should be understood and care for as a whole. We address nutrition and diet by looking at root causes for lasting impact and healing instead of quick fixes and band-aids for symptoms.

Holistic nutritional counselling goes beyond just providing you with a meal plan and telling you what to eat. You are provided with programs and resources that equip you with the knowledge and skills to participate actively in your wellness journey and achieve sustainable change. Each protocol is tailormade to help your body, there is no cookie-cutter plans.

Through these programs you will feel confident and in tune with your health. The goal of holistic nutrition is to support and optimize the body's innate healing abilities, promoting wellness and preventing disease.

This means your care plan will consist of changes to diet, exercise, lifestyle, mental health support and supplementation.

  • Currently, the Ontario government does not cover Nutritional Counselling under OHIP.

However, your personal health benefits may help to pay for Nutritional Counselling services.

  • There are many insurance companies that can help pay for Nutritional Counselling. If you have health benefits with Equitable Life, Manulife, iA Financial Group, GreenShield Canada, ClaimSecure Inc. or Blue Cross Alberta coverage, check that your services as an NNCP and/or RNT are covered. This applies if your coverage includes nutrition or nutritional counseling services.

As well, Sunlife now offers some employers a Personal Spending Account within which Nutrition Counseling is covered.

  • Since meal plans are individualized to your personal health needs and goals I do not sell meal plans on their own. If you are a new client who only wishes for a meal plan, it requires that you have had at least an Initial Consultation appointment with me to gain the necessary information I require to make your plan.

If you are already a client of mine, you can purchase a meal plan on its own as long as you have had an appointment within the last 5 months and have had no major health changes.
